Sheffield Adventure Film Festival (ShAFF) have teamed up with Sheffield running shop Front Runner and local club The Steel City Striders to present a unique Night Run on the Friday night of the festival (17 March).
The run will set off from Showroom Cinema and is conveniently timed so that runners will get back in time to watch a special ShAFF selection of 'Run Films 1'.
The run costs £10 to take part, but includes an Alpkit Gamma head torch worth £21 and a Buff, as well as a guided run around our fantastic city- perfect if you're from out of town and visiting Sheffield for the first time.
There will be two run options, which will vary in length and speed, all the details about each run are below.
Run 1: around 7 miles
Rough pacing- 8-9 minute miles
The route will take in a number of the green spaces near to the city centre. Visiting parks such as Crookesmoor and Norfolk Heritage Park as well as a quick nip through Sheffield General Cemetery.
Run 2: around 4 miles
Moderate pacing- aiming to stay around 11 minute miles
A more leisurely version of the first, this route will take in a few of the green spaces near to the city centre, but won’t be going quite as far afield, with a view to avoiding any really steep hills.
Key information for both runs:
Meet: The Workstation at 7.45pm Depart: 8pm
Return: between 8.40pm – 9.10pm
Everyone who comes along gets a head torch and Buff to use, which will also be theirs to keep after the run.
Please bring your most high-visibility clothing. There will be some hi-viz vests available to borrow, but there won't be enough for everyone.
Organisers ask that everyone signs a disclaimer before taking part, to ensure that everyone is in good health and understands that there are inherent risks involved when running, especially around a city centre.
