The Magnificent Seven
Location: various positions on 27-mile route
Seven Hills, 100 riders. Get into roadside position (take care as you do!) to watch cyclists attack some of The Outdoor City’s most gruelling hills, in a 27-mile route that includes over 3,800 foot of climbing.
Recommended spectator spots:
Hill 3 – Fern Road & Thrush Street. Thrush is cobbled, so riders will battle not only the incline but the bumps. Stand at the top of Thrush on Rivelin Street and view the finish sprint.
Hill 5 – Cote d’Oughtibridge. Known as the Jawbone, this climb featured in the 2014 Tour De France route. There’s good room near the top.
Hill 6 – Hagg Hill. Plenty of room at the top near Vernon Delph to see how tired the riders are by this point!
Toast to the Queen and King of the Mountains with an after-pint in the Norfolk Arms in Ringinglow, not far from the finish line.
BMC Sofa Session: Hard Rock
Location: ShAFF Outpost
A screening of the BMC TV film Hard Rock, introduced by climber Niall Grimes. A celebration of the life and impact of Ken Wilson followed by a discussion – this is a must for any serious climbing historian.
Cotic Bikes Demo Day
Location: Lady Cannings Plantation
Looking for a new Mountain Bike? Or just an excuse to test some of the latest designs? Make your way up to the superb Lady Cannings course, where Cotic will be on hand to offer you a chance to demo their range of bikes.
Location: Parkwood Springs
Inspired by the Howard Street Dual on Saturday? Test your own mountain bike skills at the new Parkwood Springs dual course, overlooking Sheffield city centre. If racing isn’t your thing, challenge yourself on the 2km course, designed for beginners to elite. Whatever you do, you’ll be amazed at the great views over the city.
The Rab CWIF Final
Location: The Climbing Works
Getting a seat at The Rab CWIF final is a challenge in itself. We recommend getting down early to see the action up close and get in prime position for all the free giveaways that come from the supporting brands. A big screen is on site, so late arrivals can watch the action and soak up the atmosphere if they miss out on a good seat.
