HSBC UK City Ride - Sheffield

British Cycling and HSBC UK are set to host one of thirteen family-friendly City Rides in Sheffield this summer.

Taking place on Sunday 16 July, the HSBC UK City Ride - Sheffield will be a celebratory event allowing cyclists of all ages and abilities to ride safely together on a traffic-free route.

Whether you’re a big kid or a little kid, there’ll be lots of fun things for everyone to do both on/off a bike, creating a real festival atmosphere throughout the event and a great day out for all the family.

The route itself will take riders from Endliffe Park, down Ecclesall Road and into the heart of the city centre, giving a taste of both urban Sheffield and its great outdoors, with a few unique experiences thrown in for good measure. Look out for entertainment and music along the route to keep everyone smiling, the Bubble Tunnel, ‘Toot your Horn’ zones and an opportunity to put your sprint skills to the test with the Sir Chris Hoy Challenge. Check out the route map below to get an idea.

Endcliffe Park will be the location for the Main Hub, complete with pop-up Street Velodrome, Cycle Inn bike advice, virtual reality track cycling, a Kids’ Zone where you can decorate your bike and learn new skills and refreshments available from the Breakaway Café. Young riders will also have the chance to test their bike handling and pick up new skills on the HSBC UK Go-Ride course, run by British Cycling coaches, the area will feature obstacles and challenges for all levels of rider to tackle. Bikes and helmets will be available to borrow for this and you can find out about all of the local cycling clubs and activities for kids in the area. Elsewhere there’s also a BMX off-road area for kids and a host of different types of bikes to try at the Trial Trail.

The City Rides are part of British Cycling’s ongoing initiative to inspire, young and old to get out there on their bikes and feature within a much broader programme of free activities that take place in the city throughout the year, including HSBC UK Guided Rides, HSBC UK Breeze and HSBC UK Ride Social.

Registrations are now open and every participant that signs up gets a free bib, which you can get personalised on the day, while the first 500 registered riders get a free slice of cake - what better incentive do you need to sign-up now!
