How was your Outdoor City Weekender? Whether you took on the adrenaline highs of Magnificent 7 or Howard St Dual, or sampled adventure from the comfort of your cinema seat at ShAFF, we hope you made the most of the packed programme of events.
While the Weekender is one of the high points of The Outdoor City's calendar, it’s also marks the start of the outdoor event season in Sheffield and there's plenty of excitement still to come.
Next up is the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon on Sunday 9 April, which has been keeping the runners amongst you training hard for the past few months. For the first time since Tour mania gripped Sheffield back in 2014, The Tour de Yorkshire steams into Sheffield's Fox Valley on Sunday 30 April of Spring Bank Holiday weekend, promising steep climbs, gruelling challenges and dramatic spectacle. Hot on the Tour's heels comes a brand new urban race with Kelham Island Cyclo Cross the weekend after, which will transform everyone's favourite industrial quarter into a high-octane racetrack on Saturday 6 May. Meanwhile, MTB fans will be glad to see Peaty's Steel City Downhill return to wow the crowds at Greno Woods on Saturday 20 May in what's always a great day out.
Popular trail running enduro, the Round Sheffield Run is back on Sunday 25 June, before Cliffhanger festival returns 7-9 July, bringing the British Bouldering Championships into the heart of Sheffield City Centre, alongside a host of other adventure activities which will be available to see and try. City centre road cycling will then be in the limelight again on Wednesday 19 July, with the return of the Sheffield Grand Prix.
August comes alive with the advent of the Special Olympics GB Summer Games, which Sheffield is hosting 7-12 August. If gentler exercise is more your thing, put Sheffield Walking Festival in your diary now, running 9-17 September with a host of great walks for all abilities. There's a raft of running (and walking) races take place in September and October, including Asda Foundation 10K (24 September), Night Strider for St Luke's Hospice (7 October), Sheffield 10 10 10 (8 October), before the much-loved Percy Pud race ends The Outdoor City calendar on Sunday 3 December.
Be sure to check back here often, as we'll be bringing you the inside track on the main Run/Walk/Climb/Ride events happening in Sheffield. You won't miss a beat!
